Tipi Teachings
Indigenous Peoples Month kicked off last week with tipi teachings in the courtyard. Allan and Anne Koski from Sucker Creek First Nation taught students the meaning behind each tipi pole and how the shelters are set up in certain ways to survive each season of the year. Students had the opportunity to help put up the poles, lace the covering, and hammer in the stakes before entering the tipi for storytelling sessions. We are so grateful for our Elders who eagerly share their wisdom and culture with us.
