Today we started our partnership with Kiss Someone Cute Ranch. Every classroom now has a pail for fruit peels, bits of uneaten lunches and other food waste. At the end of each lunch eating time, students collect the pails, dump the contents into a large container in the Home Ec room, rinse the pails, and return them to the classrooms. It only takes a few minutes but it keeps all that waste out of the landfill and helps feed the pigs, goats, chickens, geese and ducks at KSC Ranch. There are proteins and nutrients even in the scraps that help the animals maintain healthy weights, maintain body temperatures in the cold months, and help in the production of fresh farm eggs. It's a win-win situation for everyone!
